First Competitive match for the year upcoming
All roads led to Achill Island last weekend as our junior footballers ventured to the Co. Mayo venue for a warm weather training camp. The lads put in two very tough days on the island, and to their credit, most made a very significant contribution to the local economy. Despite their weekend's exertions all of the lads were up bright and early on Sunday morning for the highlight of the tour, a match against the locals Achill CLG. In tough conditions, Milford acquitted themselves well. Luke McGinty excelled at midfield scoring 1-4 from play and there were some excellently taken points from Ray Moloney, Nathan McGinty, Joe Redington, John Cullinan and a cracking goal from very lively Liam O'Meara. The defence played well and limited the home side to shooting from long range throughout. Kevin Keenan, Oliver Mcgarr and Neil Clancy were solid throughout, but credit must go to Alan Hayes, Paul Dillon and Mark Conway for their exceptional tackling and attacking forays throughout the sixty minutes.
Milford GAA would like to thank Achill CLG for their hospitality and we wish them the best of luck in their 2009 championship campaign.
Upcoming fixtures: All county league division three: Ahane v Milford, Newgarden Tuesday 31st of March at 7 o'clock.
