Hard luck to Limerick on their narrow defeat
Commiserations to the Limerick footballers on their very narrow defeat to Cork in the Munster football final. Despite a wonderful effort from all involved Limerick were defeated by the smallest of margins. Great credit is due to the entire panel and hopefully the lads can regroup over the next week before entering round four of the qualifiers. Well done to our own Joe Redington and also to Ger Collins who played well throughout the match and who scored a great point from play just after half time.
On Saturday next a torch will be carried from the birthplace of Michael Cusack, founder member of the GAA, in Carron, Co. Clare to Hayes Hotel in Thurles. The torch run will pass through the parish of Milford and our club are honoured to be able to participate in this historic event. The torch is due in Limerick at 3 o’clock. Milford encourages all our supporters to support the run as it passes through the parish.
Our junior footballers entertained Patrickswell last Wednesday in round three of the city junior football league. Despite fielding a very under strength team, the Milford lads acquitted themselves very well throughout the match but despite a strong performance in a number of key areas, Patrickswell took the points following a 3-5 to 8 points win.
Junior football training on Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 o’clock in Roselawn.
