Milford cruise past Abbey

Milford 3-27 Abbey Sarsfields 0-2

Milford began their junior b hurling championship campaign with a facile victory against an under-strength Abbey Sarsfields team last Saturday evening at Roselawn. Playing against the breeze, Milford opened the scoring with a point from Neil Clancy quickly followed by one from Ger Collins. Abbey opened their account with a free after 4 minutes, before further points from Ger Collins, Martin Leyden and Joe Redington increased Milford's lead to 7 points after 15 minutes. Goals from Ger Collins and Ronan Grimes, and points from Shane Galvin, John Cullinan, Neil Clancy and Brendan O Sullivan left Milford with a comfortable half-time lead.

Milford's dominance continued after the break. Points from John Cullinan, Ger Collins, John Morrissey, Jim Mulrooney, Mark Conway and Shane Galvin, plus a Brendan O Sullivan goal completed the scoring for Milford before Abbey struck over a consolation with two minutes to go.
