Milford is bounded by water on 3 sides, The Groody River to the West, The Shannon to the North and The Mucair to the East. The 4th side on the South is the old N7 Dublin Road.

Milford Primary School is the only primary school in the parish, it also has a fantastic new Community Gym, and both are beside the Parish Church,  Our Lady of Help the Christians. There are several housing estates; College Court, Milford Grange, Elm Park, Oaklawns and the Orchards. Milford Hospice is also located in the centre of the Parish.

The biggest feature in the parish is The University of Limerick, whose campus takes up a large portion of the parish, with the National Technological Park also covering many acres. There are many thriving Businesses and two Hotels.
